1. Always make sure you check the reset button on the garbage disposal, which will be located under your sink. Make sure the disposal doesn’t need to be reset because that is a very simple fix for it.
2. Be sure you check the electrical works for the disposal by making sure it is plugged in correctly. This is another quick and easy fix to the problem and sometimes is the cause of the problem.
3. It is time to now check to make sure there is nothing blocking the pipes that you can remove on your own. All you need is an Allen wrench, which you can get at any local hardware store for a few dollars.
Then you need to get under the sink and take the S or P shaped pipe apart to check for food obstructions. If there are any, then remove them and put it back together. If the garbage disposal is still not working once you have done all of this, then it is time to make the phone call to the repairman.
